1. 最初、パフォーマーはメトロノームのテンポを 40 に設定しメトロノームを作動させる。そのテンポに合わせて、 右手では星座のドローイングを描き、左手では卓上に置かれた楽譜「キラキラ星」のメロディを演奏する。楽譜の演 奏が終了した時、パフォーマーはメトロノームのテンポを 20 速くする。そしてまた、そのテンポに合わせて同じく ドローイングと演奏を行う。以上をテンポが 240 に到達するまで繰り返し続ける。ただし、途中で演奏を失敗して しまった場合、パフォーマーは直ちに演奏を終了し、メトロノームを次のテンポへと移行させ、一からドローイング と演奏を行う。
2. テンポ 40~240 間での演奏が全て終了した時、パフォーマーはそれまで演奏していた録音を聴き、それと全く同じ 演奏や素描となるよう最大限努力し再現しようと努める。
3. パフォーマーは、1 の演奏を再現(しようと)した演奏をさらに再現するよう努め、素描や演奏を行う。それをさ らに聞きながら再現、またその再現を聞きながらそれを再現 … と言ったように再現の連鎖を起こす。それを 1 時間 繰り返し続ける。補足 : 123 での演奏は常に多重録音され、その録音された演奏は常にパフォーマンスを行なった会 場で再生され続ける。
1.At first, the performer sets the tempo on the metronome to 40 and activates the metronome. At this tempo, the performer draws a constellation of stars with his right hand and plays the melody of the sheet music “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star” on the table with his left hand. When the score is finished, the performer increases the tempo of the metronome by 20. When the music finishes playing, the performer increases the tempo of the metronome by 20, and then draws and plays again at the same tempo. The above is repeated until the tempo reaches 240. However, if the performer fails in the middle of the performance, the performer will immediately end the performance, move the metronome to the next tempo, and start drawing and playing from scratch. At the end of the performance, the performer should listen to the recording of the performance and try to reproduce it to the best of his or her ability. 2.The performer will try to reproduce (or attempt to reproduce) the performance in the first step, and then sketch or play it again.
3. The performer tries to reproduce the performance of 1. And so on, creating a chain of reproduction. Repeat the process for one hour. Note: The performance at 1.2.3. is always multi-recorded, and the recorded performance is always played back at the venue where the performance took place.
Concept
メトロノームのリズムを身体で受けながら演奏と素描を完璧に行うこと は難しい。それぞれの行為はメトロノームの拍子という指針だけで貫か れており、根本的にはバラバラな所作である。故に互いの行為(素描と 演奏)は互いの力の影響が干渉し合うことでずれ続け、ブレ続ける。そ れでもメトロノームの拍子に合わせ、なんとかそれぞれの行為をまとめ あげ、安定させようとパフォーマーは試み続ける。こうした破綻と統合 のせめぎ合いが、極めて安定的な拍子を刻むメトロノームとは裏腹に、 鍵盤ハーモニカの音、あるいは星座を描くペンの描線としてぎこちなく 刻まれる。また、そのぎこちない運動のせめぎ合いは録音され、今度はそ れを聞きながらその運動を再現しようと試みる。破綻と統合を交互に、 あるいは共時的に展開する質的な運動は、記録された時点で一望可能な 過去の痕跡、客体物、つまり量となる。それを完璧に再現しようとした としても、それを行う身体は質的な運動体なのであって、結局は完璧に 再現なんてできるはずもなく、過去の量化された運動と、なんとかそれ に合わせていこうとするがどうしてもうまくいかない質的な運動、その ギリギリのぶつかり合いがズレとしてハーモニカの音や星座の描線に反 映される。わたしはパフォーマンスの 1 時間、ひたすらズレ続けた。終 盤の演奏や星座の形が、もはや序盤のそれとは比較できないほどに。 その「ズレ続け」を生成としてみせようとすること。
It is difficult to perform and sketch perfectly while receiving the rhythm of the metronome with the body. Each action is guided only by the beat of the metronome, and is fundamentally a discrete act. Therefore, each action (sketching and playing) keeps shifting and blurring due to the interference of the influence of each other’s power. Nevertheless, the performers continue to try to bring their actions together and stabilize them to the beat of the metronome. This struggle between collapse and integration is awkwardly engraved as the sound of a keyboard harmonica or the lines of a pen drawing constellations, despite the metronome’s extremely stable beat.
The jostling of these awkward motions is recorded, and as I listen to it, I try to recreate the motions. The qualitative movement, which develops alternately or synthetically through rupture and integration, becomes a trace, an object, a quantity of the past that can be seen at the time it is recorded. Even if we try to reproduce it perfectly, the body that does so is a qualitative moving body, and in the end it is impossible to reproduce it perfectly. The clash between the two is reflected in the sound of the harmonica and the lines of the constellations. For an hour of the performance, I kept shifting. I was so far out of sync with the music and the constellations at the end of the performance that I could no longer compare it to the beginning. This is the first time I have been able to do this.
